I'm Julian Whitman, a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University in the Biorobotics Laboratory since 2015. I've always had a fascination with bio-inspired (especially insectoid) robots, which led me to working on modular hexapods snake robots. In turn, this inspired my current research on automatically generating the design and control of modular robots. I'm an avid user of X-series modules and have had the pleasure of beta testing them over the past few years.
Outside of the lab, I enjoy repairing household objects, catching and identifying insects and spiders, and petting my guinea pigs.
I keep a list of my publications, interviews, and robot videos at my website, www.julianwhitman.com.
